Further update around anti-social behaviour concerns |

Dear Resident, We wanted to provide you with a further update following our recent message about anti-social behaviour concerns in Kings Heath. Three teenagers have now been charged in relation to these concerns. A 13-year-old boy has been charged with several offences such as possession of a weapon, criminal damage, assault and theft of motor vehicle. Two boys, aged 13 and 14, have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle. They are all due to appear in court at a later date. During the summer, our neighbourhood teams have also made 30 arrests for a range of offences. We’ve worked closely alongside our Guardian teams who are specifically deployed to tackle serious youth violence and knife crime. Seven weapons have been seized, and seven people were arrested for a range of offences including possession of a knife, possessing offensive weapons, assault and possessing drugs with intent to supply. Neighbourhood teams also worked alongside our Op Skybridge team where they arrested a wanted man and recovered a stolen vehicle. We continue to investigate reports of a group of young people being threatened with a machete after being approached by offenders on electric bikes. A response vehicle was deployed quickly to the scene, and an area search was conducted. We are investigating and will keep parents of the young children involved updated. We also met with local school safeguarding leads before the summer to offer reassurance around our plans for end of school term and school holidays. Our teams were deployed to key after school locations and routes every day in the run up to school holidays engaging with and reassuring students making their way home and taking enforcement action when offences were committed. We resumed this action when schools returned this week. Our teams have been taking part in the Safer Towns Summer initiative which aims to reduce anti-social behaviour and violence and have been carrying out regular patrols resulting in several arrests. Throughout this summer we have held regular community meetings and engagement, as well as high-visibility patrols and targeted operations to respond to the concerns of the public. We want everyone to enjoy living or visiting Kings Heath and not be intimidated. Making our communities safer is a priority for us and we'll continue to work with partners to achieve this.
